Lea Aboriginal art auction & gallery, Melbourne: Aboriginal Gallery of Dreaming

Welcome to Aboriginal Gallery of Dreamings auction catalogue

The Aboriginal Gallery of Dreamings (AGOD) was established as one of the first Aboriginal art galleries in Melbourne in 1990, incorporating the original collection of Aboriginal art of the managing director, Hank Ebes. In the ensuing eighteen years, AGOD developed into a well known landmark at the 'top end' of Bourke Street. An institution respected for its dedication to quality, its large variety of paintings and Australian contemporary art, the close relationships fostered with its artists, and enthusiasm and knowledge of Hank and his staff, it was patronized by serious Aboriginal art collectors from around the globe. At the end of the building's lease in 2008, the doors of AGOD, through which more than 12,000 Aboriginal artworks passed, closed for the last time and ended a rich chapter in AGOD's history.
